CLASSES are being held to try to prevent elderly people from falling.
The new Otago class is one of a number of Steady and Strong Falls Prevention Classes supported by Eastleigh Borough Council that are taking place across the borough.
Targeting frailer older people they are designed to help those having trouble walking or balancing and improves people’s confidence.
Those on the course are led through a series of leg muscle strengthening and balance retraining exercises, which increase in difficulty, and then complete a walking plan.
The Otago class starts at the St Boniface Church in Hursley Road, Chandler’s Ford on Thursday, April 24, from 10am to 11am.
Other classes are run weekly at Pilands Wood Centre, The Hilt, The Velmore Centre, The Pavilion on the Park and Centre 2000.
