Firm’s HGV drivers to get bike training
A WASTE management specialist based in Hampshire is to train each one of its 50 tipper and grab drivers in road cycle and motorbike awareness as part of a nationally accredited scheme.
The TJ Group, which has a base in Winchester and HQ in Fareham, is keen to ensure its 135 staff are safe behind the wheel and can operate cab sensor equipment to prevent accidents.
According to industry figures lorry drivers are involved in more than 4,000 cyclist and pedestrian deaths across Europe each year. Fatalities among cyclists in the UK reached 118 two years ago alone.
