OWSLEBURY village representatives are relaxed about plans to expand an airport in Hampshire.
The parish council was given a letter by Lasham Gliding Club shortly after reports emerged that Farnborough Airport had plans to extend its operations.
As reported, the airport hopes to increase its airspace to a similar size to that of Gatwick, despite only operating an estimated 25,000 business and private aircrafts every year.
Residents living east of Winchester in Alresford, the South Downs and the Itchen Valley have opposed these plans with many stating the increase could result in nearly double the number of aircrafts, creating noise pollution.
However council members said the move would not create much more air traffic than parishioners already experienced.
Parish chairman John Chapman said: “I don’t actually think there’s much we can do here. Given that we have three international airports close to us we already get high-flying and low-flying aircrafts anyway.
“I’m not sure what can be done.”
