MONEY keeps on pouring in to a charity facing a funding crisis – but more is needed to secure its future.
The Rainbow Centre, which transforms the lives of disabled people across the south, has so far raised £123,000 of its £150,000 target.
The Fareham-based centre revealed last month how if needed to raise £150,000 in just four weeks or else it would not be able to open after Easter and would have to put staff on unpaid leave.
While the centre can stay open until the end of May due to the amount donated so far, it still needs to reach its target to ensure its future.
Sarah Guild, the charity’s events fundraiser, said she was confident they would reach the total, but was not sure it would be reached by tomorrow – the deadline.
The centre, in Palmerston Drive, helps children with cerebral palsy and adults with neurological conditions like Parkinson’s disease or who have a head injury or suffered a stroke.
Although the charity acknowledged that the phones had been quieter in recent days, offers of cash have continued to come in from as far away as Yorkshire and Northampton.
Bandzmedia, based in Yorkshire, which manages duo Cherry Suede, a top Canadian acoustic act has offered help having worked with the centre before.
Cherry Suede has added an exclusive date to its current UK tour and will play a fundraising concert at The Ashcroft Arts Centre in Fareham on May 31 accompanied by Southampton artist Rozii Chaos.
Tickets are on sale and cost £10 by logging on to rainbowcentre.org or calling 01329 289500.
