THE final jigsaw piece in a £150,000 cycle network connecting two Hampshire communities is open.
Mayor of Eastleigh Cllr Malcolm Cross has opened the final part of the National Cycle Network Route Two between Southampton and Hamble-le Rice.
The £55,000 section of cycle path at Lovers Lane is the fourth stage of the local link between Abbey Hill and Hamble Lane, but is also part of the overall National Cycle Network.
A cycle route now runs along Weston Shore to the west of the borough and Warsash to the east of the borough and links to the Dani King Cycle Way that runs along Hamble Lane.
The scheme forms part of the National Cycle Network route that will run along the entire south coast of England from Cornwall to Kent.
This section was funded by Hampshire County Council through the use of developers contributions accrued through developments in the peninsula over the last five five years.
