A HAMPSHIRE MP says a drop in unemployment in her constituency show it is making “good progress”.
Caroline Dinenage, MP for Gosport, welcomed the Office of National Statistics’ figures which revealed a fall in unemployed in the last year.
The unemployment rate decreased from 3.4 per cent in February last year to 2.4 per cent in February this year, with 495 more people getting into employment.
In addition, youth unemployment fell for the same period and now stands at 4.6 per cent, down from 7.3 per cent.
Ms Dinenage said: “Local people are overcoming the barriers to employment, thanks to targeted support from local organisations and businesses.”
