A NEW pedestrian bridge could link Southampton’s WestQuay Shopping Centre to the £70m Watermark development.
As revealed in the Daily Echo recently, developer Hammerson is set to hand in detailed plans for phase one of the Watermark site to contain a luxury cinema, bars, restaurants and public space.
If those plans are approved, work would begin later this year and could be completed by the end of 2016.
Now the developer has submitted an application to the city council for a new pedestrian bridge over Harbour Parade to link the new development with the existing shops’ multi-storey car park.
It is also hoped that eventually the Watermark scheme will have another footbridge link with the proposed major development, at Royal Pier.
A decision on the bridge at WestQuay is due by June 10.
