A WINCHESTER butchers is celebrating after winning three awards at a national convention.
T.H. Burroughs, based at The Good Life farm shop in Springvale Road, in Headbourne Worthy, took home one gold and two silver rosettes for its creative summer recipes at the Foodex Show 2014 at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.
Butchers Josh Vale, 24, and 23-year-old Sam Lewry were the creative minds behind the winning recipes, which included the gold medal-winning pork and Pimms sausage.
The silver rosettes went to their sweet chilli and pork sausages, and beef steak, caramelised onion and mixed herb burgers.
They were competing in the bi-annual National Products competition, held by The National Federation of Meat and Food Traders.
The success also marked National Butchers Week, and Katie Westwood, who works at The Good Life farm shop said everyone was pleased.
“Our butchers were over the moon to find out that their products had won,” she said.
“Their inspiration for the recipes came entirely from their love of British summertime and their favourite things at a summer barbecue.”
