A MAN has been hit by a lorry on one of the south's busiest motorways.
The air ambulance has been sent to Rownhams services on the M27 westbound after a male in his 30s was hit by an articulated lorry on the entrance slip road.
He has suffered serious head injuries and the entrance will be closed for some time, officers say.
The incident happened at around 3.55pm and the man was taken to Southampton General Hospital after initially being treated at the scene.
He is currently described as being in a 'critical' condition.
Insp Kirsty Shannon, from Totton police station, said: "We are currently investigating a collision whereby a pedestrian has been struck by a lorry.
"They have been taken to Southampton General Hospital and is being treated for serious, critical injuries."
