Police are investigating allegations that a woman was raped in a Hampshire park.
The 26-year-old victim was attacked in Lakelands Park, Freemantle, after travelling there in a car from Empress Road, Southampton.
Detective Inspector Jim Park, heading the investigation, said: “This was an isolated incident that should not cause people living in the Freemantle area to be alarmed.”
The woman has told police that she was raped in the early hours of last Sunday in the park, which is also known as Freemantle Lake Park.
Det Insp Park added: “Enquiries so far have established that she travelled in a car from the Empress Road area of Southampton earlier the same evening.
“We're appealing for anyone who saw a silver or blue convertible BMW car at either of those locations on Saturday night into Sunday morning.”
