SOUTHAMPTON’s Red Hot Press is preparing to hold its latest exhibition.
Red Hot Press is a fine art print workshop, located in the city centre.
It is open to the public and has a range of courses on offer, and is dedicated to the production and promotion of original prints. From Friday, May 2 to Monday, May 5, it will be holding its Foundation in Printmaking Exhibition at its premises at the Corn Exchange, Old Cattle Market, Southampton.
The first group of students from Red Hot Press’s foundation in printmaking course has just graduated and the students are excited to be hosting their end of course exhibition.
Sarah Mander, studio director at Red Hot Press, said: “This is the first year we have run the foundation course.
“It is the only foundation in printmaking in the south of England, we are delighted with the work that the students have produced and are really looking forward to showcasing their work.”
On Saturday, May 3, Red Hot Press will be celebrating International Printmaking Day with a range of printmaking demonstrations including etching and solar plate Etching.
These events are free and provide a great chance to meet artists, learn about different printmaking techniques and perhaps make a purchase.
You can chat to the artists about their inspiration and techniques and may even feel inspired to book yourself on to a printmaking course.
The exhibition is open 10am-5pm on Friday and Saturday and 11am-5pm on Sunday and Monday.
