POLICE say a man hit by a lorry on a busy Hampshire motorway is in a critical, but stable, condition.
The man, in his 30s, was hit by an articulated lorry on the slip road into Rownhams services on the westbound carriageway of the M27 yesterday.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance was called out and landed in the service station's car park after the accident, which happened at about 3.55pm.
He suffered serious head injuries, and was treated at the scene by paramedics for almost an hour before being rushed to Southampton General Hospital.
Police have today confirmed that although his condition is critical, he is stable and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
