A COUNCILLOR from near Alresford, Pat Seward, a former chairman of East Hampshire District Council, has died.
Mrs Seward who represented Four Marks and Medstead for a decade, passed away aged 69 just before Easter at Basingstoke Hospital.
Current chairman Cllr Chris Graham, who took over the post from Mrs Seward, said she worked tirelessly.
“Pat was a small woman with a big heart. She was a real character and she did a huge amount of work for the residents of Four Marks and Medstead,” he said.
“When she moved to Four Marks she just fell in love with the place and wanted to do her best for it. She wasn’t in it for recognition or glory she just got on with the job and made sure she got it done.”
Cllr Seward was elected to East Hampshire District Council in 2003.
She became chairman in May 2012 and retired from the council shortly after finishing her year in office in 2013. She also served on Four Marks Parish Council for many years.
