STAFF at a Hampshire store are helping to kit out a local Scout group’s headquarters.
Workers at Wickes in Hedge End handed over a whole new kitchen to be installed at the town’s Scout group base.
Baden Powell Lodge in Pavilion Road is the home of the 13th Itchen North (St John’s) Scouts, alongside other local Beaver and Brownie troops.
Matthew Boyles, who sits on the building committee, said: “The building is showing some signs of age, particularly in the kitchen.
“Wickes were looking to replace much of their kitchen stock, and they offered to give us a set of their units.”
They were given a number of base units with drawers, a sink, wall units, paint and brushes, and work is set to begin in the coming months to overhaul the building’s kitchen.
Mr Boyles added: “It’s really important and very useful, as the groups need to use a kitchen to get some of their badges, and as they often stay over at the hall it’s also good to have better kitchen facilities.”
