PLANS to redevelop sports facilities at a Winchester school have been agreed to by civic chiefs.
The Westgate School sought planning permission to extend and resurface the existing netball court to provide a new multi-sports games area.
The plans also included the installation of a 4m weldmesh fence at the site on Cheriton Road.
Hampshire County Council Regulatory Committee agreed to the plans which form a small part of the ongoing development of what education officials hope to be the first county-run school for pupils aged four to 16.
In September this year a new two-form primary school is expected to open on the site of Rotherly boarding house. It is hoped the move will create new school places in the city where demand is now in its hundreds.
