AN investigation is underway after a flat fire.

A total of nine firefighters from Hightown fire station were called to a flat in Keynsham Road, in the Bitterne area of Southampton, in the early hours of this morning.

They found a bedroom on fire at a third floor flat in a four-storey building at around 1.13am.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel, one jet, and positive pressure ventilation to extinguish the blaze.

The fire was out at 1.58am.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said the cause is currently being investigated.
