A SOUTHAMPTON man was one of 100 campaigners celebrated at a special event.

Mike Willcox, from Shirley, was recognised for his efforts at a parliamentary event in Westminster hosted by the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD).

The 53-year-old has been involved in a variety of CAFOD initiatives, such as the Hungry for Change campaign calling for a fairer global food system, and Thirst for Change which focused on the need for clean drinking water for people across the world.

The event was held at the Terrace Pavilion at the House of Commons and was also attended by Southampton Test MP Alan Whitehead and television presenters Dermot O’Leary and Adrian Chiles.

Mr Willcox said: “An event like this reception is incredibly energising. This year’s event has inspired me to continue campaigning, knowing it really is possible to make a difference.”
