EASTLEIGH Lions Club has said thank you following this year’s donations to the Great Daffodil Appeal.
Raising funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care, members of the club collected donations at Tesco in Winnall, Winchester, in a bid to raise as much money for terminally ill patients as possible.
The money will be used to fund Marie Curie hospices.
Lions Club president Phil Spearey said: “Thanks to the generosity of local people we collected £695.98. Every penny collected by Lions Clubs goes direct to good causes as our membership fees cover any administration costs.
“This means our daffodil collection will help fund 35 hours of hands-on nursing care within our area.
“We are proud to be at the heart of the community, and our partnership with Marie Curie demonstrates how Lions Clubs offer vital support for local people.”
The Great Daffodil Appeal has been given huge public support and has raised more than £70million since 1986.
