GALES brought destruction to Southampton when an uprooted tree landed on parked cars.
Two cars at The Laurels, Newitt Place in Bassett Avenue, took the brunt of the impact as the tree fell in strong winds yesterday lunchtime.
The Ford and Mazda cars were parked in the residents' car park and it's believed the tree had been dead for a number of years.
Matt Avery, 35, a resident whose Mazda was pinned under the fallen tree, said: "I don't know if it's a write-off yet.
"It's so frustrating because calls for the dead tree to be cut down have been falling on deaf ears and now it's fallen on my car.
"I've only just got back from holiday so it's a bit dispiriting."
As reported in yesterday's Daily Echo, the Met Office predicted more bad weather was on its way.
