Sholing today tasted Wembley glory when they won the F A Vase.
More than 5,000 fans watched as the Boatmen beat West Auckland 1-0 this afternoon.
A goal in the 71st minute by Marvin McLean was enough to win the trophy for Dave Diaper’s team and the £25,000 prize money.
The winger went down the left and the ball bounced up in front of him before he shot.
The ball bounced off defender Lewis Galpin and looped up over the keeper's head and into the far corner, below.
There was a scare for Sholing two minutes from full time when West Auckland hit the bar from a corner.
Coach loads of fans made the journey from the south coast up the M3 to the capital to cheer on the Wessex League champions to a deserved win.
They now become the third Wessex League team to win the trophy which was lifted by team captain Byron Mason whose brother Barry was also in the side.
It was boss Dave Diaper's last game in charge as manager.
He said: "I just cannot explain how I feel.
"Sholing is my life and this just epitomises the 15 years of hard work not only by me but by other peoople at the club."
And goal scorer McLean, celebrating below, added: "It was the best moment in the world. I'm just absolutely speechless."
Man of the match was Sholing goalkeeper Matt Brown.
He said: "Unbelievable - what a feeling this is.
"The boys dug in, did well and took our chance.
"This is one of the best days of my life."
Meanwhile, captain Mason added: "I'm over the moon...I'm just so proud to have walked up those stair to collect that trophy."
The team will be at St Mary's stadium tomorrow to be introduced to the crowd before Saints final Premier League game of the season against Manchester United.
They will also be given a Civic Reception at Southampton City Council on Monday.
