FAMILIES have been busy making bird boxes for the nesting season at a Hampshire park and five-year-old Toby Lofmark from Colden Common is pictured left with his superb effort.
Park rangers helped visitors to Itchen Valley Country Park build the boxes by sawing and nailing together locally-sourced cedar wood.
About ten families took part, all keen to provide safe nesting homes for tits and robins.
Countryside officer Kevin Young said: "They all enjoyed it thoroughly. It's given them the chance to make something to take home and hopefully they will all be able to enjoy birds nesting in them soon."
Mr Young warned not to leave bird boxes within reach of cats.
The day was organised by Eastleigh Borough Council.
