A FORMER Southampton social worker has been struck off after he was jailed for distributing and possessing indecent images of children.
Mudassar Khan, 26, is currently serving a sentence for two years and eight months after pleading guilty last autumn to 17 charges, which related to more than 6,000 images.
Now the Health and Care Professions Council has removed him from their register following a conduct and competence committee hearing.
Panel chairman Christine Mills said: “Whilst the registrant is not at liberty to further remedy his behaviour the matters involved are so serious that they are arguably beyond repair and will have had lasting damage on his reputation.
Khan, of Reading, previously worked for both Southampton and Portsmouth city councils.
As previously reported he was brought to justice after Hampshire Police teamed up with colleagues in Greater Manchester and the FBI in the USA.
