A LONG saga over the future of a historic military base in Winchester has taken another twist.
The former Royal Observer Corps base in Abbotts Road has been the centre of development plans for several years.
Bayview Developments has wanted to convert the 1943 building into homes but city council planners refused.
Last autumn Winchester city planners voted to reject the developer's plans to demolish the building even though English Heritage said the building should not be preserved.
Now Bayview has submitted a new application to sweep away the building which has been empty since the end of the Cold War in the early 1990s.
