A HAMPSHIRE soldier who served in Iraq died just days before he was due to receive a medal for his service.
Sgt Glynn Ludlow who served with the with the Royal Army Medical Corps was due to be honoured with the rest of his regiment after a six-month tour of duty in the war-torn country.
His mother, Christine, will receive Glynn's medal at his funeral.
His death is not being treated as suspicious.
Tributes to Glynn, 28, who was born and brought up in Romsey were led by his family.
His mum Christine said: "His life revolved around his family and he was very close to us all. We will all miss him terribly."
Glynn, who went to Mountbatten School before attending Eastleigh College, joined the army at the age of 17.
An Army spokesman said: "Glynn Ludlow was a valued and well-respected member of D squadron and had a very promising career within the Royal Army Medical Corps."
Glynn was found dead at his home that he had recently bought in Preston, Lancashire.
Sgt Ludlow's funeral will be held at Romsey Abbey on January 31 with full military honours.
