A man was ordered to do 60 hours unpaid community service after he admitted making homophobic comments to a teenager at a Hampshire music festival.
Ashton Jay Wilson pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to teenager Oliver James Evans.
Wilson, 20, from Fletcher Close, Dibden, was also ordered to pay £50 compensation to the 18-year-old as well as £85 court costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
The incident occurred on Friday, July 11 at the Festibelly event in Lymington.
Outside the court Wilson, who works for a London building firm, said he regretted his choice of words in the argument he had with Mr Evans.
He said: “I feel bad, I feel sorry for what I said.
“We had an argument. I thought we had left it at that. I didn’t think it would hurt anyone.”
