A DIARRHOEA outbreak at Southampton General Hospital has forced the closure of two wards.
The infectious diarrheoa has claimed 19 victims with the potential to spread further.
Doctors have closed two wards to new admissions to contain the outbreak and allow patents to be cared for in isolation.
As a further precaution, temporary visiting restrictions have been introduced.
The hospital is advising family and friends to check with ward staff before visiting.
Doctors say there is a seasonal increase in diarrhoea during the winter.
