A CHARITY swim has been postponed due to dangerous winds.
Organisers of the Solent Swim Challenge have put back the cross-Solent swim until October 5 after high winds meant it was too dangerous to attempt.
Twenty-one brave swimmers were due to take the plunge on Sunday to tackle the 2.5-nautical mile event which was launched by Ellen MacArthur and Anna Wardley.
Anna, who last year swam non-stop around the Isle of Wight, said: “The safety of the swimmers and our support crew has always been our absolute number one priority.
“We have been receiving in depth weather forecasts from our meteorologist, Simon Rowell, and the wind forecast has steadily worsened through the week.”
The swimmers have so far raised more than £22,000 for the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, which helps young people aged eight-to-24 regain confidence while recovering from cancer.
