THEY have wise heads and a nose for the news.

Residents at Otterbourne Grange care home, near Eastleigh, are creating a monthly newsletter to keep their families and neighbours aware of what is going on in the village.

And staff invited the Daily Echo in to give the budding journalists some pointers on news-gathering and article-writing.

Manager Nikki Stroulger said: “We are going to have weekly meetings around what goes in to the newsletter and if we can learn more about writing an article we think it will be an interesting read for the community.

“Residents can write something whenever they feel up for it. They can have as little or as much involvement as they would like but we hope to make it a monthly thing.”

The newsletter will also feature regular updates on the home’s refurbishment and extension which is set to start in the coming months, including a new cinema room and hairdressing salon.
