AFTER half a century apart a group of former schoolgirls in Southampton have reunited.
The class of 1964 at Weston Park Girls’ School have gathered for a chance to reminisce about the good old days.
Out of the 60 women who left the school after their O-levels, half the class and two teachers returned to their old hall for a chance to catch up – without the bright blue blazers and stripy ties.
The event was organised by a group of lifelong friends who met at the school when they were 16 years old and after moving across the UK they now gather a few times a year for lunches.
Marilyn Mullen, Diane Hayward, Geraldine Parker, Georgie Hunt and Jenny Boncey invited their classmates back to the school, which is now known as Chamberlayne College for the Arts, for an afternoon tea and gossip, and the ladies are now hoping it will become an annual event.
Jenny, 66 from Shoreham-by-Sea said: “It was so lovely to see so many familiar faces and have a chance to reminisce and find out what everyone had been up for the last 50 years. We were all so excited and it was nice to be back in the old school hall which hasn’t really changed since we were there.”
