A SOUTHAMPTON convenience store has lost its licence to sell alcohol.
Shop Local, in Shirley Road, was already on a “second chance” after a police review last year.
But now the shop has been stripped of its licence following a second review launched after a teenager was allowed to buy alcohol.
Licence-holder Zain Ali faced licensing chiefs last year after alcohol was sold to youngsters under 18 on two occasions.
Conditions were imposed on the store, including having a functioning CCTV system, a refusals log and extra training.
Daxeshkumar Patel then took over the day-to-day running of the shop as designated premises supervisor, but Mr Ali remained the official licence-holder.
Police made a number of visits to the shop after last year’s hearing, but found that there while there was a CCTV system and refusals log in place, they were not being maintained properly.
In June alcohol was sold to a 17-year-old as part of a police test purchase operation.
