A GRIEVING family have spoken of the tragic loss of their daughter, killed when she fell 60 metres down a mountain in northern Spain.
The parents of Katherine Stokes said they will never recover from the loss of their child.
Miss Stokes, 29, of Bitterne, Southampton, suffered serious injuries after falling from a mountain path with boyfriend Robert Rippengal, 39, from Cambridge, during a snowstorm.
Her parents told of their grief at an inquest into her death yesterday.
Miss Stokes and Mr Rippengal were on a walking holiday in the Picos de Europa mountains when the tragedy occurred last February.
It is thought bad weather forced them to change their route before falling 60 metres down the mountain.
They raised the alarm but by the time rescuers found them Mr Rippengal was dead and Miss Stokes was airlifted to hospital but attempts to revive her failed.
Southampton coroner Keith Wiseman recorded a verdict of accidental death.
