IT is one of the most successful events in the city's history.
Southampton Maritime Festival proved a huge hit with thousands heading to the port for a variety of sea-themed celebrations.
Many historic ships were on show including the SS Shieldhall, the HMS Medusa and ST Challenge.
And visitors enjoyed music that ranged from hometown heroes and X Factor contestants Kingsland Road to The Sea Shanty Singers who sung of the history of Southampton's ships and docks.
The quayside was packed with exhibits including classic cars, steam vehicles and trams while the Ocean Cruise Terminal housed heritage displays, art exhibits, craft fairs and stalls.
This year's event was wartime-themed to commemorate significant anniversaries of the First and Second World Wars and the public joined in by dressing in 1910s and 1940s from the woolly pull-over look to full soldier uniform.
And they raised their hands in salutes on Saturday as a Spitfire and Hurricane flew over.
A glimpse into the past was also on offer through historical diving and ship-building demonstrations.
The event was organised by the Southampton Heritage Federation and spearheaded by the Maritime Archaeology Trust.
