MOTORISTS are facing Bank Holiday misery as much of the city centre’s road network is clogged up with traffic.

There is currently significant congestion in the waterfront area of Southampton as traffic heads towards and away from WestQuay shopping centre and Ikea.

Traffic is also busy in the Commercial Road and Hill Lane areas of the city.

There is very slow traffic on both Hampshire motorways.

Southampton City Council’s highways department tweeted earlier: “All roads that lead to the city centre have very heavy traffic as people head to the shops for the afternoon.”
