THOUSANDS of Guides have been enjoying adventures in the New Forest.
An estimated 2,000 youngsters and leaders have been at the Foxlease Training and Activity Centre, near Lyndhurst, for a four-day event that ended yesterday.
The event, called Wellies and Wristbands, has been a festival of music and activities including zip wiring through the trees, abseiling, canoeing and kayaking.
The Guides have been camping out and fortunately the weather was good until Monday morning.
Jade Johnson, one of the organisers, said: “It has been mostly brilliant weather, we have been lucky.
“The event has gone really well; we have had a lot of girls get through adventurous activities.
The best thing has been the freedom for them to do what they want, when they want.”
Girls have attended from all over the country and there was even a group from Japan.
The event is in its second year and will return in 2015.
