A COMMUNITY hub in the heart of a Hampshire town has moved a step closer.

The new £460,000 facility will be at the Former Magistrates’ Court in Church Street, Romsey and phase one of the planned building work was completed during the bank holiday weekend.

That saw Test Valley Borough Council's customer service facilities move to the newly refurbished rear of the building to allow the final work to the front of the facility to take place.

Phase two will see work beginning on providing a larger customer waiting area, improved reception facilities and access for the disabled and pushchair users.

Council services will still be operating during this time with a temporary entrance in place. Once that is complete the council’s customer service facility will return to the front of the building.

Cathedral’s family fun WINCHESTER Cathedral is to host a free family day of fun this autumn.

On October 4-5, at its Inner and Outer Close, the Cathedral holds its annual Harvest Festival.

Making their usual appearance will be stallholders for the Hampshire Farmers’ Market as well as a kidsroam farm, horse and carriage rides and vintage farming machinery.

There will also be a static falconry display, a vintage fairground organ and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance Pod.

Displays will include this year’s nominated charity, the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution, as well as the National Farmers’ Union, Sparsholt Agricultural College, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Fund and The Bee Keeping Society.
