IT WASN’T exactly the wedding present he was expecting.
This was the moment a newlywed couple became what is believed to be the first to do an Ice Bucket Challenge at their wedding in Hampshire.
Imaad Mahuroof and his new wife Zaina were hours into their wedding reception at the Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley when Imaad’s groomsmen decided to surprise him with a group nomination.
The challenge has gone viral across the world as a way to promote raising money for charity. It was inspired by the ALS charity in America supporting people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, which is a motor neurone condition.
Photographer and close friend Rooful Ali caught the moment and said: “He had no idea but was such a good sport about it and Zaina was happy to help out.
“I don’t know of any other just-married couples that have done it and this is one part of the story which will live on in the couple’s memories.”
Imaad, 27 a fuel marketing manager for Shell and Zaina, 26, a trainee doctor are now enjoying the start of their lives together in Surrey.
