WITH buckets of ice-cold water lined ready, it was a chance for children who had taken part in holiday clubs to get involved in the latest Internet craze – the ice bucket challenge.
But it wasn’t the children who were going to take the chilly challenge, which so far has raised £48m for charity – it was the coaches and management of Planet Sport, which provides sporting education to schools around the country.
Marketing officer Oliver Bell said: “We wanted to participate in the ice bucket challenge to help to raise awareness and funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and this seemed like a fun way to do something worthwhile and allow the children to feel like they are part of this current trend.”
The events were set up to mark the end of their sports coaching camps, and took place across the south coast, including at Fleming Park Leisure Centre, Eastleigh.
