COUNCILLORS are set to discuss plans to build 24 new homes in a Hampshire town.
Developers want to build on land between Portchester Rise and Boyatt Lane, in Boyatt Wood, Eastleigh.
The site, currently used to graze horses, is surrounded by development on three sides and is 150m from the M3 motorway. Eight of the homes would be affordable housing and access would be from Boyatt Lane.
Applicant Cranbury Estates Ltd has already had pre-application discussions with the council and held public consultations.
Residents have sent 14 letters to Eastleigh Borough Council raising concerns including loss of privacy and view, increased traffic and noise.
A report by the council found the site would provide employment during construction. Despite the loss of undeveloped land, the report added the benefits outweighed any concerns about the impact on the area’s appearance or character.
The proposals will be discussed by councillors at the Eastleigh Local Area Committee meeting, at The Railway Institute, in Romsey Road, Eastleigh on September 9, at 7pm.
