A FAMILY fighting deportation to their homeland of Iran are confident they will not have to vacate their Southampton flat within the next few weeks.
The Khameneh family had been told they would have to leave the property in Briarswood, Shirley, yesterday, after the Home Office cut off their weekly £94 payments.
However, as reported in previous editions of the Daily Echo, Lisa, 49, and Khalil, 62, who are both blind, and their daughter Ariana, 18, have applied for special permission to stay under section four of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.
Lisa said: "Because we have put in a new claim we don't think the original Home Office letter saying that we had to leave yesterday applies anymore.
"Our lawyer is working very hard for us on our case which we hope will be successful."
