A HAMPSHIRE boy who almost died in a horrific motoring accident is about to complete his breathtaking recovery by appearing on Oprah Winfrey's US television show.
Chris Stewart, 12, has amazed doctors with his miraculous recovery after he broke his neck and almost tore his head off when he crashed his Mini at a junior race last September.
Now six months on and thanks to pioneering surgery by doctors in Southampton, the youngster is due to head off to the US to appear before millions of viewers on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
Chris and his mum Debbie received the news that Oprah wanted to interview him earlier this week after the shows producers contacted Southampton General Hospital to ask whether he would come on.
He is now due to fly out to Chicago where the show is filmed in a few weeks time along with his mum, brother and sister, and consultant spinal surgeon Evan Davies from Southampton General Hospital who carried out the life-saving operation.
Debbie, from Fareham, said: "He's delighted and a bit surprised. He's definitely getting better, though some days are better than others, but news of the Oprah show has really got him excited."
