A grueling 100-mile run along the South Downs Way in just three days left an associate director at national property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) with blisters, aching limbs – and an overwhelming sense of satisfaction.
Andrew Hodgkinson, associate director of office agency at LSH in Fareham, undertook the challenge and raised more than £1,200 for charity.
He ran and walked just over 33 miles a day – starting in Winchester and finishing in Eastbourne – to raise funds for Naomi House and Jacksplace, two hospices in central southern England that look after children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
“I have a few blisters, aching limbs and aching joints but feel a huge sense of achievement in getting to the end after what felt like three very long days,” said Andrew, a novice runner who had not even completed a half marathon before the event.
“I’m also really proud to have raised more than £1,200 for this worthwhile charity – I’d set myself a target for £500 but have been overwhelmed with people’s generosity.
“Naomi House and Jacksplace do incredible work and they need to raise £7 million a year to run their service. People can still donate, though, and every penny makes a real difference to their work.”
