A CHILD has been rushed to hospital by ambulance after suffering serious injuries in a road crash.
The child and a woman were in a car which ended up on its roof on Kathleen Road in the Sholing area of Southampton.
An air ambulance was despatched to the scene, but the pair were taken to Southampton General Hospital by one of the two land ambulance crews which attended, along with a rapid response vehicle.
Fire crews from Hightown and St Mary's were called to cut the pair free while police were also sent to the scene of the crash in Sholing, which happened at 2.15pm this afternoon.
Both casualties were taken to Southampton General Hospital with “serious but not life-threatening injuries”.
The Kathleen Road was closed over three hours following the crash, between South East Road and Ambleside Gardens, while South East Road was shut between Kathleen and Botany Bay Roads.
