A SOUTHAMPTON couple had the perfect wedding following an act of kindness by a classic car owner.
Dawn Knights and Andy Clarke faced disappointment when their wedding car, a 1960s Morris Minor, was cancelled just four days before the ceremony at Southampton Register Office.
But Bill Scholfield read about their plight in the Daily Echo and offered them the use of his 1931 Lagonda.
Dawn, of Lauren Way, Totton, said yesterday: “It was fantastic. Mr Scholfield turned up with the car on Saturday and it was brilliant. It turned out to be the perfect day.”
Mr Scholfield, of Woodlands, near Southampton, said: “I did it because I was able to do it. The car was appropriate for someone in a bit of a fix. It’s nice to be nice. I was just able to do it.”
