A FORMER councillor could be set to receive a special civic award.
Geoffrey O’Neill has been put forward to receive the honour of the Freedom of the Borough in recognition of his service to Gosport residents.
He was made an honorary alderman in 1995.
Elected in 1976 for Leesland ward, Mr O’Neill served for 12 years and went on to be mayor in 1986/1987.
Councillors will decide whether to award the honour on Wednesday.
