MORE than 30,000 naval personal a year are set to benefit from a massive new multi-million pound dining hall being built in Hampshire at Europe's largest navy training centre.
The new facility is being built at HMS Collingwood in Fareham after military chiefs decided the existing arrangements were below current naval standards.
As well as munching breakfast, lunch and dinner in the plush new surrounds, Navy trainees will also be able to get themselves a haircut, do their laundry, have a drink at the bar and buy bits and pieces from a retail shop all under the same roof.
The latest improvements to the base are part of a major investment programme at the facility since it took on the role of Maritime Warfare School in 2002.
Other construction work includes two new warship bridge simulators, a new home for the Navy's command training group and the Warsite building for the computer based training facility.
Permission for the new dining room was granted by Fareham Borough Council.
