HE told us How to Look Good Naked and now he's shown us how to make a big entrance!
Style guru Gok Wan turned heads as he arrived in Southampton in a horse drawn carriage today.
Accompanied by showman Brian Conley and the best dressed princess in pantoland, the appearance certainly brought some razzle-dazzle to the city.
Two white ponies with feather plumes pulled the white, rose-strewn fairytale carriage to the Mayflower Theatre where Cinderella will run this festive season.
Fashion fixer and dream maker Gok - whose programmes 'How to Look Good Naked' and 'Gok's Fashion Fix' are seen in over 100 countries - will play The Fairy Gokmother offering styling tips to the Ugly Sisters and transforming Cinders' rags into a fabulous frock.
Cinderella ( Kathryn Rooney) was also joined by her Ugly Sisters (played by Martin Ramsdin and David Robbins) who - despite their best efforts - failed to rain on her parade .
Both Brian Conley and Kathryn Rooney return to the Theatre following the huge success of Robinson Crusoe and The Caribbean Pirates last year.
In a career spanning three decades Brian Conley has appeared in award-winning West End musicals and television sit-coms, presented his own chat shows, recorded three albums and completed numerous sell-out tours of the UK.
He is currently starring as P T Barnum in the UK Tour of the Cameron Mackintosh and Michael Harrison production of Barnum, which runs at the Mayflower Theatre next year Michael Harrison, managing director of Qdos Entertainment's pantomime division and executive producer of Cinderella said “Seeing Brian Conley and Gok Wan together at today's launch has given us a taste for just how exciting and unique this year's Southampton pantomime is going to be.
There are certainly going to be some fabulous comedy moments between the two and both will be joined by a superb cast in a show with top-drawer production values, stunning sets and fabulous costumes, making Cinderella the truly unmissable pantomime.”
Michael Ockwell, Mayflower Theatre Chief Executive added, “Cinderella is looking to be our biggest pantomime yet, if families thought last year's pantomime was amazing and funny, just wait until they see this one. Brian is without doubt the best all round entertainer in the UK today, and I am thrilled he will be joined by the irrepressible Gok Wan to wave his magic wand and create the biggest and best pantomime in the south this Christmas.”
Cinderella is at Mayflower Theatre Southampton from Saturday 13 December 2014 to Sunday 4 January 2015. For tickets and information visit mayflower.org.uk or call 02380 711811.
