A reward worth thousands of pounds has been put up to track down arsonists who torched a Hampshire pensioner’s home.

More than 18 montsh after the attack in Romsey investigators are offering a £5,000 reward.

In February 2013, 83-year-old Elizabeth Sanger-Davis was found with her pet dog surrounded by flames at her home in the grounds of Stroud School in Highwood Lane, Romsey last year.

And after being taken to hospital to treat smoke inhalation, her beloved pet died.

Now crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers is offering the money for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the attack, which police are treating as arson.

Daily Echo:

Elizabeth was rescued by Hampshire police officers Sergeant Alyson West and PC Adrian Starr but she is still traumatised by the incident. Both officers have been nominated for their courage and will attend the Police Bravery Awards in London today.

Roger Critchell, from Crimestoppers, said: “This must have been a terrifying ordeal for Mrs Sanger-Davies. Not only did she lose the home she had lived in for more than 50 years, and suffer injuries as a consequence, but she also lost her beloved pet dog.

“It is horrendous to think that anyone would deliberately endanger the life of an elderly woman in this way. We hope that they will be brought to justice.
