ROADS around a Hampshire college have been reopened after after a suspected chemical spill left one man needing hospital treatment.
Specialist fire crews were deployed to Itchen College in Southampton just after 2.30pm.
According to a spokesman for the college on Middle Road a contractor was overcome by fumes in his vehicle whilst in the car park at the Middle Road campus.
He was taken to hospital whilst emergency services examined the scene as a precaution.
Parents collecting from nearby schools were told of alternative arrangements for collecting their children owing to the temporary closure of Middle Road.
The road is now reopened and the college open to the public in time for an open evening that begins at 5pm.
