THE PORT of Southampton is on Ebola alert and ready to take action if ships sailing into the city are suspected of carrying infected passengers.
Bosses at the port have revealed that they are on standby and preparing to take steps to ensure any vessels sailing in from West Africa are properly investigated.
Meanwhile, cruise chiefs last night confirmed they are also taking the threat “very seriously” and have introduced extra screenings of passengers and crew who have travelled from affected areas.
