MOTORISTS heading through the New Forest this morning are facing long delays after a crash on a major route.
There are long delays on the A338 Spur Road after a collision near Ashley Heath.
The incident which has taken place on the northbound carriageway is causing delays both ways.
One lane was initially blocked as a result of the two-vehicle collision but is expected to be cleared soon.
Delays of up to 25 minutes are being reported and traffic is slow back to the Blackwater junction.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said the traffic was "gridlocked".
They were called at 7.58am to a collision involving two vehicles on the northbound carriageway around half a mile from Ashley Heath roundabout.
An ambulance was also called but was not needed, the force spokesperson added.
Recovery is required for one vehicle.
